Horror tops the box office this past weekend. Don’t Breathe took in a reported $26 million dollars during opening weekend. The film was shown on over 3,051 theaters. Don’t Breathe beat out Suicide Squad, Mechanic: Resurrection, Sausage Party, and War Dogs for the top spot at the box office.
The film is directed by Fede Alvarez. The script was written by Frede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues both of which wrote the 2013 remake of Evil Dead. The film stars Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, Daniel Zovatto, and Stephen Lang. Don’t Breathe originally screened at South by Southwest on March 12, 2016 and was released theatrically by Screen Gems on August 26, 2016.
Don’t Breathe tells the story of Rocky, a young woman wanting to start a better life for her and her sister. They agrees to take part in the robbery of a house owned by a wealthy blind man with her boyfriend Money and their friend Alex. But when the blind man turns out to be a serial killer, the group must find a way to escape his home before they become his newest victims.
Don’t Breathe is a home invasion horror. Horror fans whom enjoy Don’t Breathe would be wise to check out these other recent home invasion horrors.
